As part of its commitment to giving back to the community, the NMS Rotary Club of Medical Stars visited Padre Pio Primary School in Kabulamuliro on Friday, 18 September 2026, for a D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read) Day. The outreach brought together members of the club to promote a culture of reading among learners while providing practical support to enhance their learning experience.
During the visit, the team held an interactive reading session with pupils, encouraging them to embrace reading as a pathway to knowledge, confidence and lifelong learning. The club also donated scholastic materials worth UGX 2,054,000, including pencils, exercise books, pens, rulers and mathematical sets for learners from Primary One to Primary Seven.
The outreach also focused on menstrual health girl-child empowerment. Through an interactive session, the girls were encouraged to manage menstruation with confidence and dignity while remaining committed to their education. The club also donated sanitary pads to support the girls. The visit further provided an opportunity for members to engage with the school administration and understand some of
the needs affecting learners, opening up opportunities for continued partnership and support.
Through initiatives such as this, the NMS Rotary Club of Medical Stars continues to contribute to community development by supporting education, health and the empowerment of young people.
