Welcome note from
General Manager
The National Medical Stores (NMS) continues to execute its statutory mandate entrusted to us by the people of Uganda through the NMS Act of 1993. To procure, store, and distribute essential medicines and medical supplies to all government health facilities. Our operational focus is on two core outputs:
- Maintaining optimal stock levels aligned to facility quantification within approved budgets
- Ensuring timely last-mile delivery in accordance with the published Delivery Schedule. This schedule functions as a social contract, enhancing supply chain predictability, accountability, and service monitoring.
To further strengthen transparency, NMS has integrated IT into its daily operations to enable Ugandans track NMS deliveries. This can be done in two ways:
1.Visit dmt.nms.go.ug directly via your web browser; or
2.Access the “Track My Delivery” icon on our website (nms.go.ug).
Both options provide daily updates on order status, dispatch timelines and delivery progress made by NMS to your respective districts and health facilities across the country
Medicines supplied by NMS are clearly marked “Government of Uganda – Not for Sale.” This is a safeguard against theft and unauthorized sale. We urge the public to report any suspected misuse through the State House Health Monitoring Unit toll-free line: 0800 200 447 or to the nearest police station. Public vigilance is essential in protecting these lifesaving resources.
NMS has registered significant improvements in medicines availability, driven by supply chain reforms, stakeholder engagement, and process optimization. We remain focused on scaling capacity through infrastructure expansion, workforce development, and automation of order management systems to enhance efficiency and data visibility.
NMS remains committed to a responsive, data-driven, and efficient health supply system that ensures equitable access to essential medicines for all Ugandans.
