The National Medical Stores (NMS) reaffirmed its commitment to promoting public health and strengthening institutional partnerships by sponsoring the International Judicial Wellness Day celebrations organized by the Uganda Judicial Officers Association (UJOA) on 25th July 2026 at the High Court Offices in Kampala.
Representing NMS at the event was the Chief Stores and Operations Officer, Mr. Paul Okware, who led the NMS team in demonstrating the institution’s commitment to improving health literacy beyond traditional healthcare settings.
The collaboration was founded on a shared vision of fostering healthier workplaces while promoting the safe and rational use of medicines. As Uganda’s national agency mandated to procure, warehouse and distribute essential medicines and medical supplies to public health facilities, NMS recognizes that ensuring access to quality medicines must go hand in hand with educating the public on their proper use.
Through the wellness engagement, judicial officers gained a better understanding of how medicines are selected, stored, managed and distributed, thereby strengthening public confidence in Uganda’s health supply chain.
The collaboration also complements Uganda’s National Antimicrobial Stewardship and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) priorities by promoting responsible antibiotic use, infection prevention and public education. Participants received valuable information on the dangers of antimicrobial resistance and the importance of using antibiotics only as prescribed by qualified health professionals.
By supporting the event, NMS contributed directly to the Judiciary’s vision of creating a healthier and more productive workforce. Through such partnerships, NMS continues to demonstrate that its mandate extends beyond the supply of medicines to promoting the knowledge and responsible practices that ensure medicines achieve their intended public health impact.
