Board Chairman

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I welcome you to the National Medical Stores (NMS).

NMS was established by an Act of Parliament to procure, store and distribute essential medicines and medical supplies to public health facilities across Uganda. This mandate reflects the trust that the people of Uganda have placed in us to ensure equitable access to life-saving commodities.

The Board provides strategic oversight to ensure that NMS operates efficiently, transparently, and in full accountability to the public. We are committed to upholding strong governance systems that safeguard public resources and promote integrity across the entire supply chain.

Over the years, NMS has made notable progress in improving the availability of medicines in health facilities. These gains are a testament to continuous reforms, innovation, and collaboration with key stakeholders in the health sector.

As a Board, we remain focused on strengthening institutional capacity, supporting investments in infrastructure and technology, and ensuring that the organization is well-positioned to meet current and future healthcare demands. We also place high priority on transparency initiatives that enable the public and stakeholders to monitor service delivery and hold us accountable.

We recognize that the success of NMS depends on collective effort. We therefore value the partnership of Government, health workers, development partners, and the general public in supporting our mission.
