National Medical Stores

On 23rd March 2026, National Medical Stores (NMS) hosted a delegation of stakeholders from public health and global health partners during the Strategic Dialogue on the Introduction of New Malaria Tools held in Uganda. The official visit formed part of a broader engagement aimed at strengthening collaboration and accelerating access to innovative malaria prevention and treatment interventions across the country.

The team, coordinated through the Ministry of Health Uganda, toured the NMS pharmaceutical warehouse and office complex in Kajjansi, where they were taken through NMS warehousing and distribution systems for malaria commodities and other essential medicines. The visit highlighted the critical role of a coordinated national supply chain in ensuring commodity security and supporting effective delivery of healthcare services.

During the engagement, participants appreciated Uganda’s efforts in strengthening public health systems and advancing access to life-saving malaria tools, including rapid diagnostic tests, antimalarial medicines, vaccines and long-lasting insecticidal nets. The visit also provided an opportunity to showcase the country’s commitment to innovation, partnership and sustainable healthcare delivery in the fight against malaria.
